Graduate Student Council
The Graduate Student Council is a nonprofit whose members include all Caltech graduate students. Members engage with various campus offices to organize social and academic events, and advocate for a better quality of life for graduate students. The GSC Board of Directors is comprised of representatives elected by the grad student body each May. FAQ
Yes, you may email any professor directly and set up an appointment to discuss the possibility of a rotation.
Each option has its own set of required courses, and many students choose to take additional courses. The load is decided each quarter in consultation with your advisor.
TA responsibilities vary from course to course, but typically include grading homework sets and exams. Sometimes TAs help the instructors write homework and exam problems.
Most students arrive to Pasadena during the month of September
Yes, you can arrive in summer, with prior approval from the Graduate Office, your option and the PI who will be providing salary support for the duration of your early rotation.
Students are supported through a combination of GTA (Gradute Teaching Assignments) and GRA (Graduate Research Assignments).
CCE total graduate student population is approximately 300.
Yes, this is one thing that makes Caltech so special! Students are welcome to explore and join labs outside of their option.
