Caltech Chemistry Club
We are a group of undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines passionate about engaging in chemistry outreach and cultivating a welcoming environment for Caltech undergraduates interested in chemistry.
In outreach, our mission is to instruct and inspire the next generation of scientists through demonstrations. We go out to science nights in elementary schools and libraries to perform chemistry demonstrations and expose kids to STEM at a young age, bringing our resources and expertise to raise our local communities. Inspiring students to pursue science and chemistry starts at these outreach events, and we firmly believe in providing opportunities to engage in science for students of all backgrounds.
On campus, we help foster research connections between undergraduates and faculty, such as hosting talks by faculty members to discuss opportunities in the field of chemistry, both in industry and academia. We hold professional development events such as faculty dinners where we facilitate discussions and career advice from faculty to students. In addition, we strongly believe in supporting freshmen in chemistry through our option advising socials and new majors luncheon. Our largest event is our annual guest speaker from another university, where we provide opportunities for dinners with visiting professors and engage the entire chemistry community at Caltech with our club.
Lastly, we also bring a tight-knit community of chemists together with our social events. We hold casual social events on campus and occasional off-campus activities as well. We hope to start an annual retreat tradition as well as provide partial financial support to chemistry students going to conferences.

Chemistry Club Outreach
The Caltech Chemistry Club is involved in various outreach events in the community. We go out to local schools and showcase chemistry related demos for elementary and middle school children. We perform several fun and exciting chemistry demonstrations, including flame tests, chemical traffic lights, whoosh bottles, and elephant's toothpaste, and are always expanding our demonstration repertoire. We also participate in various public events on Caltech campus and for the community, such as ACS National Chemistry week.
If you are interested in getting involved with Chem Club Outreach, please contact the Outreach Directors on the ExComm page for more information or to be added to the email list! In addition, we are trying to expand our outreach activities to long-form events in addition to tabling demonstrations. Please reach out if you are a K-12 educator in the Pasadena area and are interested in a special outreach event for your class.
