Chemistry

Chemical research at Caltech is highly interdisciplinary, mirroring the increasing importance of molecular understanding in many fields of science. Major initiatives are fostering broad collaborations in energy and environment, molecular medicine, and nanomaterials.

The primary objective of the Chemistry PhD Program is the development of an individual's ability to perform original and creative scientific research. The program requirements are governed by the chemistry faculty's strong belief that a graduate student is best trained in a research environment. The program offers two tracks tailored to students with different interests. Students Graduate students can select one of the two tracks, Chemistry or Chemical Biology & Molecular Biosciences (CB & MB).
