Special Lecture: The Crisis at Fukushima Dai-Ichi Nuclear Power Plant

Joseph E. Shepherd, the C. L. "Kelly" Johnson Professor of Aeronautics and professor of mechanical engineering at Caltech, will give a talk called "The Crisis at Fukushima Dai-Ichi Nuclear Power Plant" at 4 p.m. on March 30 in Baxter Lecture Hall. Shepherd will provide an overview of the reactor design of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant complex, outline the probable sequence of events, describe the physical and chemical processes that led up to the explosions and fires, and more.
