Merck Process Chemistry: Discovery and Development of Innovative Synthetic Methods to Drive Best Chemistry
Rebecca T. Ruck, Dr., Ph.D., Director, Process Chemistry, Merck Process Research and Development, Merck & Company, Inc., Rahway, New Jersey,

Process chemistry activities range from identifying new routes to Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients to optimizing individual steps in those syntheses to executing upon chemistry to deliver necessary quantities of drug candidates.  At Merck Process, the cornerstone of all these efforts is the discovery and development of innovative synthetic methods that allow us to execute upon our mission of delivering best chemistry at first filing.  This presentation will focus on key concepts of process development in the context of recent drug candidates and the novel chemistry the organization has identified to enable the large scale production of these complex molecules.
