Friday, November 6th, 1-5pm.
Safety Seminar | Register Here
Introduction:
Prof. Dennis Dougherty, Chair, CCE
Prof. Theodor Agapie, Chair CCE Safety Committee
Invited speakers:
Prof. Alexander Miller — Department of Chemistry, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, "Synthetic Chemistry with a Safety Net"
Prof. Ian Tonks — Department of Chemistry, University of Minnesota, "Learning Experiences in the Lab: Communication is Key for Safety"
Dr. John Kramer — Leader in Polymer Chemistry and High Throughput Research (OPO), Dow Chemical Co.; and Dr. George Athens — Senior R&D Leader, Analytical Science/Global Reactive Chemicals, Dow Chemical Co. "Participating in the Safety Culture in R&D at Dow"
Dr. Michael Smit — Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Keck School of Medicine of USC, "COVID-19: How the Virus Spreads and a Common-Sense Approach to Safety"
In addition to attending the 1:00 safety seminar, CCE attendees are required to attend three (3) of the separate breakout sessions that will follow the seminar. A total of seven (7) sessions will be available at 2:30, at 3:30, and at 4:30. Note: If you attended the fire extinguisher training session, you may count the activity as one of your breakout sessions. Invitations to participate will be sent to a limited group.
