Proteomics at the Proteome Exploration Laboratory
Sonja Hess, Director, Proteome Exploration Laboratory, Biology, California Institute of Technology,

The Proteome Exploration Laboratory (PEL) is a state-of-the-art mass spectrometry based proteomics laboratory at Caltech's Beckman Institute. In the past, the PEL has put in their efforts to optimize the entire proteomics pipeline, allowing the identifcation of thousands of proteins at microgram level. The PEL has recently purchased an Orbitrap Elite, which offers additional fragmentation techniques (electron transfer dissociation ETD and high energy collision dissociation HCD), enabling the precise localization of post-translational modifications. In addition, the PEL will soon acquire a QTRAP instrument, which will enable targeted proteomics.

A tour of the PEL facility will follow the seminar.  Space is limited to please RSVP for tour.
